On this day in Lewis & Clark history...
During the day, the skins and specimens are dried in the sun and safely stored. In the evening, a dinner and ball is held at a tavern where 18 toasts are given honoring President Jefferson and Captains Lewis and Clark.

had all of our Skins &c. Suned and Stored away in a Storeroom of Mr. Caddy Choteau. payed Some visits of form, to the gentlemen of St. Louis. in the evening a dinner & Ball
