On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

After spending the night separately among various La Charette homes, the Expedition gathers together and paddles 48 miles to St. Charles. There, the men are overwhelmed with hospitality from local citizens.

From the journals...

this day being Sunday we observed a number of Gentlemen and ladies walking on the bank
we were met by great numbers of the inhabitants, we found them excessively polite
