On this day in Lewis & Clark history...
Hunters are sent down the river to collect scientific specimens of mule deer and antelope. The canoes catch up with them at the White River which has water that looks like milk. Clark sees 20,000 buffalo on the nearby plains.

Friday 29th August 1806
from this eminance I had a view of a greater number of buffalow than I had ever Seen before at one time. I must have Seen near 20,000 of those animals feeding on this plain.
