On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

A Clatsop party brings a canoe to Fort Clatsop for trade, but refuses Lewis' offer of his laced uniform coat. Several men are out hunting including Gass who notices seaside dock growing in large quantities in the woods.

From the journals...

a party of the Clatsops…brought an indifferent canoe some hats and roots for sale.
I offered him my laced uniform coat but he would not exchange.

The Salmon Trout are seldom more than two feet in length they are narrow in proportion to their length, at least much more so than the Salmon or red charr.

I also saw a great quanity of sheep-sorrel growing in the woods of a very large size.
