On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

After abandoning the Salmon River, Clark returns to the Shoshone villages. Lewis continues hauling their cargo up Lemhi Pass. Charbonneau informs Lewis that several Shoshone men will be leaving for the Missouri tomorrow.

From the journals...

the plain gitting narrow    the upper part of it has lately been burned over.    no timber in this valley except the willow on the little branches    Saw a fiew cotton trees towards evening.
