On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

At the camp east of present Ulm, Montana, the new canoes are finished. The six small canoes that were detained by yesterday's high winds arrive with the last of the cargo. All is readied to leave with eight canoes tomorrow.

From the journals...

the weeds and Grass in this bottom is as high as a mans knees but the Grass on the high plains & praries is not more than 3 Inches high no time in this Season.
