On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

Sergeant Gass comes to the fort to ask for help hauling the finished pirogues to the river. Clark provides medical services to a sick Indian child brought to Fort Mandan.

From the journals...

about 10 oClock Sergt. Gass came down to the Fort and informed us that the perogues were finished, and more men wanting to draw them to the River which is about one mile & a half.
