The Chief of the Mahhaha village tells the Captains tales about his people and how they came to live near the Mandan. He and several other Indians spend the night at Fort Mandan.

a nomber of the Grossvantares called the bigbelleys Stayed with us all last night. Capt. Lewis Gave a chief a Meddel, and Some Small Presents.
