On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

All the men at Fort Mandan are busy preparing for the continuation of their journey up the Missouri River. They share the news of recent Indian conflicts with Black Cat and two other visiting Indians.

the party were all employ'd untill the 20th instant, in making of ropes out of Buffalo, and Elk skins, burning of Coal for the Armourer & Blacksmiths, working on the new Pettyaugers &ca.—
