All the journal writers record high winds on this day. Little else happened at Fort Mandan across the Missouri River opposite the Knife River Indian villages in North Dakota.

Thursday 17th Jany. 1805.
about 3 oC. this morning the wind began to blow from the North & began to freeze. continued cold & the wind the Same course all day.
