On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

The Fort Mandan temperature is 28°. The hunters take advantage of the warm day. By late afternoon, cold winds return, and the hunters return with one buffalo. Little Crow befriends the Captains who give him a handkerchief and two files.

From the journals...

Some hunters went out & 3 of Stayed out all night, the rest came home. had killed one Small buffalow. in the evening it got verry cold and the wind blew verry hard all night.
