As the snow continues to melt, several Indians visit Fort Mandan. One woman offers corn in trade for medicine. Lewis treats her child who is suffering from an abscess.

From the journals...

a womin brought a Child with an abcess on the lower part of the back, and offered as much corn as She Could carry for Some medison, Capt Lewis administered &c.
