On this day in Lewis & Clark history...
The father of the Mandan killed by the Sioux a few days ago visits Fort Mandan. He brings pumpkins and squash and receives small gifts. The men continue working on the picket fence that will enclose the fort's cabins.

3rd December Monday 1804.
The Father of the Mandan who was killed Came and made us a present of Some Dried Simnens & a little pemicon, we made him Some Small preasents for which he was much pleased
