On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

The Missouri drops 2 feet causing the keelboat to lean. In removing the mast, Sergeant Pryor dislocates his shoulder, and the Captains must set it back. North West Company traders visit, and they are told to stop trading medals and flags.

From the journals...

the River fell abt. 2 feet last night So that our Boat lay dry on Shore. we took out the mast & every thing which was in hir & let hir lay as She appeared to be Safe.
