On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

Toussaint Charbonneau and one of his Shoshone wives, perhaps Sacagawea, bring buffalo robes to sell to the men at Fort Mandan. Sergeant Ordway is pleased to obtain one. The men work to add roofs to their log cabins.

From the journals...

a frenchmans Squaw came to our camp who belonged to the Snake nation. She came with our Intreperters wife & brought with them 4 buffalow Robes and Gave them to our officers. they Gave them out to the party. I Got one fine one myself.
