On this day in Lewis & Clark history...
As the boats head away from the Teton Sioux villages near present Pierre, South Dakota, the men encounter several Teton Sioux walking on the shore. The Indians are informed that the party will no longer come ashore for them.

Saturday Septemr. 29th
We proceeded on, and passed an old Indian Village, lying on the South side of the River; where the Rickorees had lived five Years before; and we were inform'd by one of the frenchmen, that was with us, that they had raised Corn, Beans, pease & Simblins at that place
