On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

The Expedition brings the boats 15 miles up the Missouri River camping southwest of present Modale, Iowa. Moses Reed, who had returned to the previous night's camp to retrieve his knife, does not arrive at tonight's camp as expected.

From the journals...

proceeded on through a narrow part of the River which is filled with Snags & logs    the River in many places is confined within 200 yards.
