On this day in Lewis & Clark history...
Jean-Pierre Chouteau, traveling down the Missouri River with 22 Indians, stops at Camp River Dubois. After a brief visit, the Captains cross the Mississippi with them. Sergeant Ordway is in charge while the Captains are in St. Louis.

at three oClock a Cannon was herd up the Missouris, Soon after Mr. Choteau arrived with 22 Indians, we Saluted them and after Staying one [h]Our, Cap Lewis & myself Set out with them to St Louis, where we arrived before night.
