On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

Just after leaving Cape Girardeau, the missing hunter, Pryor, signals the boat from the opposite shore. Lewis describes the hills and limestone rocks that border the Mississippi River. They camp near present Trail of Tears State Park.

Set out this morning at 7 OCl.    as we were bearing off, Pryor the man who had been absent and lost for the last two days hailed, we passed the river and took him in    he was much fatiequed with his wandering and somewhat indisposed
