Lewis and Clark pass the Tennessee River and arrive at Fort Massac on the Ohio River. In the first journal entry since September 18, Lewis records hiring George Drouillard as an interpreter for $25 per month.

Arrived as Massac    engaged George Drewyer in the public service as an Indian Interpretter, contracted to pay him 25 dollards pr. month for his services.—
