On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

Lewis and Clark take the keelboat down the Ohio River. Near this date, they pass the Blue River near present Leavenworth, Indiana.

From the journals...

Blue river, Immediately above the mouth of this river are two islands, channel past the first is on the left side, past the second on the right, and keep close to the lower point of it.
Blue river is of the Ohio state, rises near the head of Silver creek, and enters the Ohio in a S. E. Direction.
