On this day in Lewis & Clark history...

Lewis continues down the Ohio River between present Ohio and West Virginia. Near this date, he passed the Guyandotte River and would be close to the Kentucky border.

From the journals...

Big Guiandot, is on the left side, Here is a long and difficult ripple; the channel begins near the left shore above Guiandot, and when in full sight of the creek, takes across the river at nearly right angles until near the right shore, thence it bears towards the middle of the river.
